The week that went by was marked by bearish investor sentiments since many shareholders continued their selling on higher oil price data. Over the last week, NASDAQ Composite closed lower by 1.9%, QNET Internet Index by 1.4% and S&P by 1.8%.
Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) kept appearing in our previous news articles over the last week driven by its acquisition strategy, high stock price gain, etc. Boingo wireless (NASDAQ:WIFI), the leading Wi-Fi services provider announced a new partnership with Latin American mobile services company, Movile. This partnership will offer the 8 million Movile customers access to its global Wi-Fi hotspots. The key feature is that Movile customers will be able to access the internet while on the move, without having to pay the expensive roaming charges they currently pay.
Few other important news worth recapturing would be that of Zillow Inc. (NASDAQ:Z), the online real estate player. The company completed its previously announced $50 million all cash acquisition of StreetEasy, a New York focussed real estate marketplace.
Qihoo 360 (NYSE:QIHU) made an offering to issue $550 million worth of convertible senior notes with an option for the initial purchasers to purchase an additional $50 million worth of the notes. The notes will be due in Sept. 2018, when the notes can be converted into Qihoo’s American depository shares (ADS), with every two ADS representing three class-A ordinary shares of Qihoo 360.
Based on a recent study by Italian security researchers, spammers in Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) make close to $200 million just by posting third-party links on fans page. Money made by these spammers had a high correlation to the popularity of the fan page.
