Facebook Inc Business Profile

Facebook with ticker symbol FB got listed on the NASDAQ on May 18, 2012. Facebook stock data became available after the company went public in what was one of the biggest IPO in the history of internet companies, with a market capitalization of $104 billion, with Facebook stock price being $38 at the time of its debut (See: Facebook stock history). The much-hyped IPO ran into hurdles with the Facebook share price declining by 50% in just in three months. The company became a part of the S&P500 after the close of trading on December 20, 2013 affirming its place as one of the top tech companies in the US. Facebook Inc., founded by Mark Zuckerberg is a global social networking platform. Facebook aims to connect the world by enabling people to discover, share, like, discuss, and communicate with family and friends on computers, tablets and mobile devices. With the aim of becoming a rich platform, Facebook launched the "Facebook Platform" in 2007 to allow third party developers to leverage its vast user base to create social apps and websites. Facebook relies on the advertising business model to generate revenue and will always remain free for the users.

Facebook faces stiff competition from companies like Alphabet Inc.(GOOGL) formerly Google Inc (GOOGL) and Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) which have been in the business of providing online advertising for a much longer time. While Google and Microsoft rely on internet search to provide targeted ads, Facebook provides the same based on demographics like age, gender and interests.

The company is subject to a variety of laws and regulations pertaining to user privacy, data protection, and protection of minors.

FB is surely one of the stocks to watch for in coming few years. They have almost doubled their net sales from 2011. They assets and cash flows are quite healthy. Their overall business model is better compared to their competitors (I feel). I would say Buy Buy Buy!!

FB being in S&P500 is a great news for FB investors. Every index fund will now have to invest in FB. Stock is going to go way up from here.
